Western USA
The west is newer territory for me, I went there for antoinette 50st birthday surprise. Dave and I did not tell her I was coming over, and it most certainly surprised her! We had the most wonderfull time driving through Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and Canada. I took a train in whitefish Montana to Seattle, peoplewise the coolest city in the US if you ask me. Dave's nephew ron and his girlfriend gave me the keys to the house and the second car and wished me lot's of fun!! so I did and after a week I flew to San Fransisco, a great but very segregated city. Visiting David and Jennifer for their wedding oct 7th of the year 2000 was really cool and read about my trip to Vancouver also.

Bozeman, MT
An industrial town in the north, the orc hestra I used to play in visited once, not lots to see but a small historic centre. Swinouscze north of the town is worth a visit.

Yrllowstone NP
Beautifully coloured wells surrounded by steamy lakes and hot mud pools. Old faithfull just keeps spraying 15 metres up in the air and it is just a pretty site. Drive into Grand Teton park while you are there..

Grand Teton NP
Big Booby NP if you make the french-english translation. Beautiful natural park with great lodging.. we had the most wonderfull time there, just enjoying the walks, the wildlife and the wonders of nature. When you exit the park on the south side, you will find the cute and friendly town of Jacksonhole WY.

Lava hot springs
In Idaho on your way from Jacksonhole back to Montana, blessed with the tourist attraction of a bunch of really cool hot springs. We went in and I must say it was quite a pleasant experience. Supposedly healthy even ;-).

Glacier NP
Maybe the most beautifull park I have seen on earth not counting New Zealand. When you walk up to one of the Glaciers you can just see the season chance and just moving a month back in time every 20 minutes you walk. Start in Summer and end around the end of the winter. The Park has some great drives through it with gorgeous outlooks etc. The lodges where you can stay are old and very very cool with great fireplaces.

Whitefish
A cute village with a beatifull Micro-Brewery producing great beer and they have free tasting so when around make sure you pay Black-Star brewery a visit. This is where I took the train to Seattle leaving Glacier national park. The track from Whitefish to Seattle is just amazing, very very pretty scenery.

Seattle
Gorgeous city on a hill, visit downtown and pioneer sq. and Pike market with its flying fish. People in Seattle are probably closest to what a dutch person would considder as a normal person. Capitol hill is where to hang out (broadway) and also where to dine. Lakeview av. gives you a great view... on the lake and puget sound. Volunteer park is cool for the asian museum and close to broadway

San Fransisco
A wonderfully beautifull city with a wonderfull climate (due to wind and such the summer temp. usually doesn't exceed 25 degrees what is a great blessing to me. Chinatown is really cool and so is the waterfront and the Castro. Too bad the people in SF seem to live very segregated. Everybody has their own little area, the latino's, white middle class, the gays, the chinese etc. and nobody really seems to mingle too much, a gay latino I met ended up with 2 lives, one in the castro and one down in the latin area. And when I mentioned too my friend who is white and middle class, he was shocked to hear I ate in Chinatown, being afraid of the food that "they serve there". A damn shame cause the 2 dollar meal there was the best one of my entire stay allthough this little chinese place on Castro made great food also.

Sunnyvale CA
Just a cute village south of THE CITY, I was invited to spend the night there before I left by this really cool canasta addicted woman whom we met in Glacier national park. I am a great fan of Canasta myself so that worked out. She brought me to SF-airport so it was just a convenient arrangement, mentioning Sunnyvale is just a tribute to her I guess.
