Eastern USA
As my aunt an uncle live in Acton near Boston I was bound to visit somewhere in my early youth. And so my first experience with american society was when I was 14. We flew BA to Boston (also a first) and spent about 3 weeks in new england, which is of course fabulous country, Boston is a great city, and about two years ago I must say it was different but still the only city besides New York I have ever seen semi-old buildings in. The northern east of the US has a similar climate to where I grew up which makes it look like home a bit more but the southern part has a climate that I doubt is made for me... temperatures over 40 C with over 90% humidity are just not my thing. After visiting my family in Acton another uncle actually living in Canada came to pick us up and drove us to his condo in Florida... as I told you... it was hot. Later I went to visit Miami beach and the keys. Diving in Key West was fabulous, but in august there was really not much more to do... My great wonderfull Antoinette lives in Cincinnatti, I did not see too much of town but it seems like quite a friendly place... I will be visiting in a couple of weeks, and I plan to see a bit more then. On my last trip I also visited New York last but certainly not least. I was very much pleasantly surprised with the cosyness the big apple breathes. I stayed on 22nd street in the best B&B place one could wish for. And of all strange things to happen on the southern most point of manhattan I meet a young czech couple trying to work their way around the US. Really cool to share some experiences with semi-fellow countrymen.
