The Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is my super country.. I love it there and it feels like a second homeland. A place I can allways be safe and warm and comfortable in. I have lived there for a total of three years spread out over the pas 7 years and loved allmost every minute of it. Anyway more about the country... It is one of extremely rich cultural history and everywhere you go you can suddenly run into the most wonderfull things, a huge church by Santini in a tiny village near Brno (Krtiny) or just a quiet little lake amoung the rocks (Necin). Here some more about some of my favorite places:

Praha (prague)
Prague is a vibrant, modern, culturally rich city, gorgeously situated on both banks of the river Vltava (Moldau).

Brno
The second largest city in the republic and the capital of Moravia, land of wines and castles etc. I lived in Brno while studying at the Masaryk university there. I had a great time even though the city seems boring at first, one just has to unfold it's mysteries before fully grasping the wonders it hides inside. It is also the town where I met Antoinette, a great life-friend, and of course my sweet hunny-bunny Eva.

Macocha / Jedovnice / Krtiny
A partly Unesco-protected are just north of Brno. You really need to see Punkva cave... you enter on foot and halfway down they continue the door in a boat. I love caves also for the great temperature in the summer. Take the cable car up to the hill and see Macocha abyss.

Olomouc
Situated in the far east of the republic, this cute town houses one of the newer and more progressive universities in the republic. Dan a great professor there taught at the Hebo in the Hague. The town is worth a visit for it's old historic town square and vibrant life.

Cesky Krumlov
Home to my favorite brewery Eggenberg, this town is a pearl within the Czech Republic. Close to the austrian border near Linz, the town is built on one of the most pictoresque places with a river, a castle on a rock and romantic lighting. The entire city-centre is protected by Unesco. Visit the Egon Schiele centre.

Kutna Hora
A very nice town that used to compete with prague over being the nations capital untill some prague-terrorists set the town on fire. Visit st. Barbera's cathedral and the former silver mines.

Terezin
A short drive north from Prague. This former concentration camp for the more intellectual and well-educated jews is impressive for all. This entire old bastillion town was completely made into a camp, the childrens drawings are quite famous and both the museum as well as the camp itself are worth a visit.

Pec pod Snezkou / Snezka
My favorite mountain village in the Czech republic, nice and cute not too massive yet everything you need. A great cablecar will take you to the very top of the highest mountain where you will find the border with Poland. Walk to the polish side (not on top but about 250 metres down) and have Bigoscz in the polish lodge, a typical brew of cabbage and meat. Then in stead of taking the cable car path down, take the path alongside the mountain that begins right across from the lodge.

Drnholec
Nothing special there, a very nice hotel and a small castle where a friend of mine used to live and teach some american rich kids.

Dobrichovice
This cute village upon the berounka hosts one of the better restaurants in the area around Prague and is the domicille of my good friend Veronika Hyksvoa who playes the flute amazingly and officially owns my czech Oltcit.

Velke Mezirici / Pelhrimov
Situated exactly in betweeen Prague and Brno Pelhrimov hosts a really cool annual festival of records and curiousities organised by the equally weird museum in the town.
